Influenza is a serious public hazard killing more people every year than SARS, West Nile Virus, and Anthrax combined. The vaccine prevents disease in approximately 70-95% of the people who receive it.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and Complete Children’s Health recommend annual influenza immunization for all children, both healthy and with high-risk conditions (diabetes, asthma, etc.) ages 6 months through 18 years.
CCH will offer the traditional injected (shot) vaccine Fluzone. The nasal spray, Flumist, is also available for healthy children 2 years of age and older. When you come for your vaccine appointment, you will be asked to complete a questionnaire that helps your provider determine which vaccine is best for your child. You may download the form by clicking here and you can bring the completed form with you.
