Kids’ Help Sought for Groundbreaking - March 20, 2007
Tiny Shovels Mark Opening of North Lincoln Pediatric Facility
LINCOLN, NEBRASKA: Patients of Complete Children’s Health, Lincoln’s leading pediatric practice, will assist in a groundbreaking ceremony at its new North Lincoln location on Saturday, March 24, 2007, at 5:30 p.m. The new facility, located at 3262 Salt Creek Circle, near 33rd and Superior Street, will open in the fall of 2007 and will replace the practice’s current location at 2355 Superior Street. “Maintaining a presence in North Lincoln is essential, and we have outgrown our current space,” says Dori Rodriguez, Practice Administrator. “There is nothing more important to us than our patients, and we ask that they assist us in the groundbreaking. We will provide the kid-sized shovels and other surprises!” The public is welcome at the ceremony, she adds.
Complete Children’s Health, whose slogan is “All about the Health of your Child,” was founded in August of 1995 by Dr. Bradford Brabec, a native Nebraskan and current Company President. His vision was to establish a practice that would grow to serve the entire community. For the past 12 years, partners and staff have made that vision a reality. The practice, which consists of 10 physicians, offers a full range of pediatric services, including well and sick child care, child psychology and behavioral counseling, specialized asthma care, breastfeeding consulting, research, and preventive medicine.
Autism Support Network:
Complete Children’s Health has a proud record of helping families whose children have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. To that end, we have been the driving force towards the development of an Autism Family Network for families in Lincoln and surrounding communities. The first meeting of Autism Family Network took place in September of 2006.
Currently we are planning bi-monthly get-togethers where families and parents can meet and hear interesting speakers on variety of topics relevant to autism. On the opposite months when get-togethers do not occur, we have a social family event such as renting the Children’s Museum or going to the Zoo.
The Autism Family Network (AFN) is the newest part of a triad in the Lincoln area including the Autism Spectrum Disorder Network (ASD) and the Autism Society of Nebraska (ASN).
The Autism Spectrum Disorder Network is critical in helping parents achieve the best results for their child in their school environment. They offer training and technical assistance to Nebraska educators and provide services to students across the autism spectrum from birth to age 21. The mission of the Autism Society of Nebraska is to support and advocate for individuals with autism and their families through education, fundraising, scholarships and conference opportunities.
The Autism Family Network’s goal is to connect families to each other. While many questions are answered and educational needs are met through the community, families still felt they lacked the means to get to know each other on a larger, more personal level. AFN “touches the heart of autism.” It is a place where families can share stories, smiles and tears. It's also a great place to seek advice from other parents "who have been there."
AFN has proudly commited their efforts to a community Walk for autism research. This will take place in Lincoln on April 15, 2007. You can find additional details about the Walk at www.autismwalk.org\nebraska.
